Before the studio lights and styled shoots… There were cozy kitchens, Grinch-green cinnamon rolls, and me learning as I went. 💚🎄 (Hehe!)

This is the kind of holiday treat that makes you look like you worked all morning… But really lets you stay in your robe a little longer!

These wreaths are made for memory-making. Whether you’re setting out a festive brunch spread, hosting a last-minute holiday gathering, or just want something fun and joyful to bake with the kids, these mini cinnamon rolls deliver big Christmas energy with minimal effort. The pillowy-soft rolls pull apart easily, the icing melts into every swirl, and the wreath shape? Instant holiday cheer!

Shaunda Necole & The Soul Food Pot® bring you cozy, from-scratch and semi-homemade holiday recipes like these mini Pillsbury cinnamon roll Christmas wreaths, designed for real kitchens, modern shortcuts, and Christmas traditions made with heart.

Mini cinnamon roll Christmas wreaths

My cinnamon roll Christmas wreaths are one of those holiday recipes that feel festive without feeling fussy. They come together fast, bake up soft and gooey, and turn your kitchen into a Christmas morning memory in the making.

The best part? Decorating them is half the fun! Tinting the icing with food coloring feels like painting with sugar, and adding dried cranberry raisins (Craisins) as little holiday “berries” makes each wreath feel extra merry and bright. It’s easy, it’s playful, and it’s the kind of recipe that brings smiles, sticky fingers, and joyful “look what I made!” energy straight to the table!

Ingredients

This recipe keeps the ingredient list short and sweet because Christmas baking should feel joyful, not complicated. All you need is one can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (yes, they come with that classic white frosting we all love), a few drops of green food coloring to bring the wreath to life, dried cranberries to mimic festive holiday berries, and, if you’re feeling extra merry, a sprinkle of red and green sugar sprinkles for sparkle.

Simple ingredients, big Christmas energy, and just enough flair to make it feel special.

How to make a mini cinnamon roll Christmas wreath

How to make mini cinnamon roll Christmas wreaths

  1. Shape the wreaths: Arrange the cinnamon rolls on a greased baking sheet, create a small center hole, and make gentle slits for that wreath-like look.
  2. Bake until golden: Pop them in the oven and bake according to the package until lightly golden.
  3. Color and decorate: Tint the frosting green, spread it on the warm rolls, add dried cranberries as holly berries, then serve and enjoy!

For that colorful Christmas finish, I keep it simple and mix the food coloring right inside the small frosting container that comes with the cinnamon rolls. No extra bowls, no extra mess.

I hit my perfect grassy, Grinch-green hue with four drops of green food coloring, but you’re in full control here: fewer drops for a softer pastel wreath, more drops for a deeper, bolder green.

🥄 Shaunda says: And don’t stop there! Feel free to switch up the color to match your celebration, whether that’s red for a classic holiday look, blue and silver for a winter wonderland, or any festive theme your Christmas table is serving.

Equipment

  • Large cookie sheet
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 1 can Pillsbury brand Original Cinnamon Rolls This type is recommended for easier preparation of the center holes for the wreaths.
  • 1 tub frosting The white frosting that's included with the cinnamon rolls
  • 3-4 drops food coloring I used green
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • sugar sprinkles Optional: red and green

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (or 375 degrees F for dark or nonstick cookie sheets).
  • Next, spray the cookie sheet with cooking oil and arrange the cinnamon rolls on it, with the cinnamon topping facing up, and about an inch apart.
  • Using a butter knife, poke a half-inch hole in the center of each cinnamon roll.
  • Fill each hole with an approximately 3×3″ crumbled piece of aluminum foil to maintain the wreath shape while baking.
  • Make 3 to 4 gentle half-inch slits around each cinnamon roll to add decorative dimension to your mini wreaths so they don’t just look like doughnuts. Be careful not to slice all the way through the dough.
  • Bake the cinnamon rolls according to the package instructions (13-17 minutes, or until golden brown).
  • While the cinnamon rolls are baking, add 3-4 drops of green food coloring to the included frosting and stir until it turns completely green.
  • Once the cinnamon rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and take out the aluminum foil from the center holes.
  • Use a small spatula to spread the prepared green frosting over the rolls.
  • Add three dried cranberries to each roll for a holly-berry appearance.
  • Optional: Lightly sprinkle the frosted rolls with red and green sugar sprinkles, then serve them warm, and enjoy!
