What's the secret to juicy hamburgers?

Homemade burgers are always the best. At my house, we eat them probably once every other week because they make for an easy, relaxed dinner that everyone loves!

Today, I took over dinner for The Mister, who was installing an AC unit in his new man cave.

Lucky for me, he had already planned for burgers and fries, so my only job was to pull the patties out of the freezer and place them on the grill.

Then I thought— move over grill – and hello Instant Pot!

What is the secret to juicy hamburgers?

I’m no stranger to the secret sauce of cooking burgers in a pot.

My southern cooking mom is often ahead of her time. She always cooks her burgers on the stovetop and in a pot.

This used to fascinate my cousins when we were kids, and they came to visit. They were convinced that the pot is what made the burgers juicier and taste better!

They even suggested to their moms at home to make hamburgers in a pot, too!

So when I first learned of burgers being made in today’s Instant Pot, it wasn’t new news to me!

  2. Form 4 hamburger patties with the ground beef mixture.
  3. Wrap each burger in foil.
  4. Pour water into the Instant Pit stainless steel inner pot.
  5. Place the Instant Pot trivet inner rack inside the inner pot.
  6. Place the foil-wrapped burgers on the rack.
  7. Close the Instant Pot lid (make sure the valve is in the sealing position – up) and pressure cook on high for 10 minutes.
  8. When the cooking time is finished, allow a natural release of pressure for at least 5 minutes.
