Black Folks Moscato Sangria

It’s no secret that Moscato has found its way into the hands (and hearts) of a younger, hipper, and unapologetically browner crowd. Black folks saw that sweet, fruity sparkle and said, “Yep, that’s us!”

We’ve always had a taste for the sweet things: peach cobbler, red drink, pound cake fresh out of the oven, so it makes perfect sense we’d claim this smooth Italian sip as one of our own.

True to form, we didn’t just stop at sipping Moscato. Nah, we remixed it! We turned that bottle of Moscato into something truly special: Black folks’ Moscato sangria. It’s still moscato, but with the addition of fruit, it’s now sangria. But it’s got Black folks’ flair, so much that you can taste the vibe!

Ingredients

This is that shortcut-to-the-good-times kind of recipe. No need to raid the liquor cabinet or slice up a fruit stand. This version gives you the essence of sangria with a Black folks’ remix that’s light, bubbly, juicy, and refreshing.

This recipe hits different because it keeps it simple, sweet, and soulfully sippable with just a few easy-to-find ingredients, no fuss, no frills, just flavor. This drink combines the sweetness of the wine with fresh fruit, including chopped apples and oranges, along with sugar, club soda, and white grape juice for a refreshingly sweet twist.

Black Folks Moscato Sangria

How to make a Moscato sangria

Unlike the traditional Spanish sangria that leans heavy with red wine and brandy, this one is bright, sweet, and lighter, perfect for daytime vibes, Sunday brunches, or chill backyard hangs. It’s also a less-boozy, more family-friendly take that you can spike if you want to, but don’t need to.

So, instead of layers of liqueurs, this one leans on the natural sweetness of the Moscato, adding it to a pitcher or a carafe along with white grape juice, paired with just enough sugar to bring the soul, and finished with club soda for a fizzy lift. And of course, you still get that fruit-soaked magic thanks to chopped apples and oranges.

This version is beginner-friendly, budget-friendly, and cookout-approved! It’s sangria with soul. Just enough fruit to snack on, just enough fizz to make it fun, and sweet enough to bring everybody back for another glass.

Want to give it a twist? To garnish, toss in frozen grapes for ice, swap in sparkling cider, or rim the glasses with brown sugar and an orange slice. You know we love a remix!
