An 8″ baking pan or cast-iron skillet works best.

Suppose you’re doubling or tripling this recipe for your next Juneteenth celebration or family cookout?

In that case, I recommend using either a 9×13″ pan for larger quantities.

Can this creamed corn recipe be made in advance?

Wondering if can you make this recipe in advance? An Instant Pot creamed corn casserole can be made ahead and reheated. Use the oven or Instant Pot Omni Plus oven’s ‘keep warm’ setting to save you valuable cooking space and hours.

If you’re prepping this recipe up to 2 days in advance, don’t bake until you’re near the time when you’re ready to serve.

Instead, you should mix all the ingredients and keep them in your refrigerator while covering them with plastic wrap if you are making it ahead of time.

When you’re about to serve, allow the creamed corn to sit at least 30 minutes at room temperature and then bake per the recipe instructions.

Then cut the remaining casserole into squares and place them in an airtight container. Or cover them with plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator for your next day’s lunch.

Can you use cream corn if you’re out of regular corn?

This recipe includes making creamed corm from scratch to get the Southern soul food flavors, so canned cream-style corn would dilute the recipe and would not work the same.

If you’re using canned corn, do you add the liquid from the can?

You don’t need to add the liquid from the canned corn.

How long will creamed corn casserole last in the refrigerator?

This corn casserole will remain good in a refrigerator for up to 5 days if stored as recommended above.

What if I substituted cream cheese for the sour cream?

For this particular recipe, cream cheese is not the best substitute for sour cream.

In an equivalent amount of the sour cream, plain Greek yogurt would work better to keep somewhat of a liquid texture to this custard-like casserole.

If you double this recipe, do you double the cooking time?

Double the ingredients and watch the baking time closely if you need to cook a larger batch of creamed corn casserole.

Doubling the recipe does not mean that you also double the cooking time. So check-in every 5 minutes so the casserole does not overcook.
